Barnard Summer in the City

The Barnard Programs provide an opportunity for students to enjoy a pre-college experience and college preparation while exploring New York City.  Among the programs, they have two, Summer in the City and Liberal Arts Intensive, that allow students to choose from an array of subjects including writing, literature, art, theatre, film studies, psychology, architecture, religion, political science and more.  New this year, is a coding/web development course; this course is presented in conjunction with the renowned Flatiron School and is an intensive 4-week program. The Young Women’s Leadership Institute is an 8-day program that focuses on leadership and gender studies.  In addition, they offer Dance in the City, which takes advantage of dance performances across the city, technique classes at The Ailey Extension at The Joan Weill Center for Dance, home of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and dance-related academics at Barnard. Summer Science  Seminars, a STEM program, offers both one and four week courses in Chemistry, Physics, Neuroscience, Psychology, Environmental Leadership and Environmental Science and related field trips to landmark NYC locations.  Entrepreneurs-in-Training, an immersive 10-day program created in conjunction with the Athena Center for Leadership Studies, is a transformative experience for young women who would like to learn from dynamic entrepreneurs about successfully creating and marketing their own startups.
