Entries for the Maryland Coalition for Gifted And Talented Education’s second annual Student Essay Contest must be postmarked by Saturday, January 31, 2015.
The essay theme should be “What have gifted education opportunities meant to me?” and the contest is open to Maryland public school students in Grades 6-12, who are participating in gifted and talented or advanced academic courses.
First place winners in the middle school and high school categories will be awarded a $50 check, a certificate, a letter of recognition, and a special invitation to the Maryland State Department of Education’s Celebrating GT Education Reception on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
Essays must be typed (12-pt. font), double-spaced, and should be no longer than three pages. The completed application form must be attached to the essay. The application form and more details about essay requirements are located here.
Contest winners will be required to send an electronic copy of the essay as a Word document to allow format adjustments. Essay contest winners will be notified by Sunday, February 15, 2015.
